JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a motivated undergraduate intern to join our team for the summer. This internship offers experience in various aspects of Health Center operations, including behavioral health, psychopharmacology, behavioral health integration into primary care, care coordination and prevention and outreach. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals to gain valuable insights into the field. This position is not to exceed 120 days. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * The BH Intern will work closely with experienced professionals to gain valuable insights into the field. * Receive the opportunity to shadow a range of health center professionals i.e., behavioral health providers, primary care providers, care coordinators, and program coordinators. * Learn about electronic medical record documentation and receive training in GLIIHC's OCHIN EPIC Medical Record System. * Support NCQA deliverables with the implementation of screenings for behavioral health patients establishing services. * Provide appointment reminder phone calls for Psychiatric Medication Clinic patients. * Document phone calls and screenings provided in the electronic health record. * Contribute to letter writing for patient specific needs. * Join the Woodland BH website development team, and provide written content for a newly revamped website. * Develop mental health related articles for the ANWC Woodland Behavioral Health online blog * Provides ideas and assists with the development and implementation of GLIIHC's social media TikTok platform; * Attend behavioral health related trainings, and meetings as identified by the supervisor. * Provides support to the Department of Behavioral Health Circles of Strength Violence Prevention and Response Program, Native Connections Program, and Youth Empowerment Program as needed. * Assists with office-related operations, i.e. printing, reviewing and editing materials, answering phones for reception and greeting patients. * Participates in the Red Shawl Gala Donations Committee. * Provides excellent customer service; * Attend meetings as assigned; * Attends trainings to enhance working knowledge of mental health conditions and treatments. * Completes assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner. * Commit to and follow a weekly schedule as agreed upon at the start of internship, plan ahead for any modifications to schedule that may be needed * Performs other duties as assigned that contribute to management objectives and at the same time contribute to the development of the employee's future career. * Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; * Strong interest in mental health and patient care; * Proficiency with Microsoft Office software specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. * Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTORS: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is performed in an office environment utilizing various office equipment including, but not limited to, a computer, copy machine, fax machine, and multi-line phone. Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone, by computer and in person. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced work environment.
