About Our Atascocita Location (Harris County):

Gateway's largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center. We foster a supportive culture with team-building activities, recognition programs, and a strong mission-driven focus on recovery and rehabilitation.

Work Schedule:3rd Shift 9:30 PM - 6:00 AM

DCM Mental HealthSpecialists are responsible for:



  • Assists with and provides didactic group counseling, including educating clients on actions needed to successfully achieve treatment goals, to promote the development of effective life skills to support a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
  • Supervises and monitors therapeutic and recreational activities to ensure safety and well-being of clients
  • Monitors client behavior and reports observations, missing clients, incidents or unusual occurrences; Assists team in maintaining consistent setting for treatment and coordinating client interaction events.
  • Contributes to decisions regarding treatment plans, conflict intervention, or privileges.
  • Documents and maintains records in accordance with the contractual requirements, which may include recording group hours, therapeutic treatments, activity or group participation, tonsure records are complete, accurate, and up to date.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and transports clients to appointments, in cooperation with treatment team members.
  • Performs drug testing, Drives vehicles in order to transport clients.
  • Other duties as assigned



Job Requirements:



  • Associates degree in counseling, social work, criminal justice or a related field or 2 years experience working in an institutional environment (correctional facility, mental health facility, or other residential treatment facility) with dual diagnosis clients.
  • Valid local driver's license



Physical Requirements:



  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
