Primary Purpose:
Performs advanced technical evaluations and develops solutions that improve transmission system reliability and efficiency. Provides expertise in planning and operational processes to support long-term asset health and regulatory compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supports the development of innovative and efficient solutions for electrical distribution/transmission systems while ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and operational requirements.
• Participates in emergency response and restoration efforts during system failures or severe weather events.
• Conducts detailed design reviews and prepares or evaluates technical documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Performs field inspections of overhead and underground electric facilities on both public and private utility systems.
• Executes engineering calculations such as cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading, and power factor studies to support system design and reliability.
• Assists in preparing engineering analyses for overhead and underground systems, contributing to system planning and optimization.
• Prepares and reviews reports on system performance, offering insights and recommendations to engineering and operations teams.
• Frequent, independent driving to meetings, company locations, field locations and/or active incidents sites while maintaining a focus on safety and compliance with traffic laws is essential to this position and cannot reasonably be accomplished via alternative transportation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Requires a 4 year degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Typically requires 5 years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to assess operational and lifecycle risks and recommend mitigation actions.
• Ability to independently evaluate non-routine asset or operational issues.
• Ability to lead discrete asset planning or operations analyses with minimal oversight.
• In-depth knowledge of transmission asset behavior, aging mechanisms, and performance drivers.
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory, industry, and utility standards.
• Skill in analyzing asset data to diagnose risk or reliability concerns.
• Skill in explaining technical issues to cross-functional stakeholders.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  A valid CA Driver's license or the ability to obtain a valid CA Driver's License prior to the first day of employment.

  
  
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is required.

$115,500.00 - $182,500.00 / year
