GENERAL SUMMARY:

Integrates and coordinates reporting development for support of general accounting and budgeting functions such as general ledgers, journals, monthly financial statements, payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and inventory. Uses business and software systems to develop, collect, maintain, analyze, and trend various financial performance metrics and transforms data into information for stakeholder reporting.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Organizes internal reporting to support the posting of entries to general ledger, accounts payable, inventory accounts, accounts receivable, and payroll systems.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, journal entries to the general ledger system, or other account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Responsible for understanding various data sources that support general ledger accounting entries. Awareness of system interfaces for input to general ledger, and accuracy of reports received from internal and external entities.
  • Develops ad hoc reporting based on requirements as requested by leadership.
  • Monitors monthly revenue and expense activity of cost center/departments, reviewing for irregularities and trend changes and investigating source of the changes. Compares monthly department revenues, expenses, and statistical activity against budget assumptions and develops explanation of variances.
  • May participate in planning, implementation, and reviewing of the business unit's strategic plan.
  • Serves as a resource for business unit and department leaders in areas related to financial matters.
  • Displays ability to maintain precise financial records and reporting and data stewardship.
  • Supports / coordinates internal and external financial audits as needed.
  • Analyzes the potential value of any contract proposals, tracks the performance of existing contracts and makes recommendations for improved financial performance of contracts as needed.
  • Coordinates any assigned business or reporting process to assure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Performs duties other than those outlined in this position description, as requested by department leadership, which are within the scope of the employee's qualifications, training, and/or ability to perform.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, HealthCare Management, Information Systems, or a related field of study.
  • One to three years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Familiarity in using various office equipment in the performance of finance related duties.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, preferred. Position will also interact with PeopleSoft, Axiom, SQL and other EHR systems.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all state and federal regulations and requirements pertaining to the department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish priorities of financial responsibilities.
  • Displays effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates an ability to accomplish multiple competing requirements and deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality of data and information that is generated within the department.
  • Communicates concisely, objectively, and accurately in all documentation, with timely documentation of pertinent information.
  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS' Customer Service Policy.
  • Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Works in a clean standard office environment
  • Based on department, flexible work hours and local travel to offsite offices may be required.
