Job Purpose:
The Supply Specialist position is a primary liaison with AHM's highest-impact parts supplier network to ensure availability of service parts to American Honda dealers. The Specialist's primary responsibilities are to manage purchase receipts, maximize on time delivery, ensure overall supplier performance in accordance with department goals, maximize service level to customers, and perform root cause & countermeasure activities. This position will further contribute by coordinating AHM's most complex supply chain related to Local Suppliers, North American Honda Plants, Fabric-related suppliers, Kit-related suppliers along with Y-part management and issues arising from Tier 2/Tier 3 suppliers, including supplier sourcing. This position additionally provides managerial backup when required.
Key Accountabilities:
- On Time Delivery targets met for all suppliers (including coordination of buildout flows and transitions to new models)
- Minimize past due deliveries to AHM
- Achieve service level targets per department requirements
- Coordinate on time delivery of new model parts to AHM
- Quickly resolve Delivery Trouble Reports (DTRs)
- Efficiently and accurately manage delivery ETA information relayed to AHM dealer network and Analysts
- Quick resolution of Critical Backorders per department requirements
- Supplier contract Input and Accountability
- Highest complexity of root cause identification & countermeasure implementation, most directly linked to customer service impact
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- BA/BS degree in Business or equivalent
- Equivalent work experience acceptable
- Supply chain affiliations (i.e., APICS) and/or Master's degree a plus
- 5 + years of supply chain and/or equivalent work experience, automotive background preferred
- Working knowledge of delivery and service Level
- Proven leadership experience
- Experience in international business beneficial
- Negotiating
- Planning & Organizing
- Communication & Informing Skills
- Prefer advanced knowledge of Honda Drawings, including color charts & familiarity with specifications of parts and materials
- Parts interchangeability identification and submission to SPR-O
- Troubleshoot supply chain complexities involving Tier 2/Tier 3 suppliers, find and establish alternate supply routes for critical parts, and resolve procurement issues related to raw materials and/or other complex solutions to improve parts availability.
- Project Management experience
- High degree of internal collaboration to ensure stable parts supply
- Working knowledge of tooling ownership and operation, raw materials procurement, and manufacturing methods
- Capability to establish and facilitate Seihan meetings
- Ability to support department specialists based on knowledge & experience
- Presentation skills required
