Position Summary: Homemakers will provide training and support to parents and guardians who are not able to manage their childcare and home management functions appropriately. Homemakers will support families through coaching, modeling, demonstrating, and monitoring appropriate skills and behaviors related to child welfare concerns. The Homemaker duties do not include administrating medical care or medication management for either adults or children.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Work with assigned clients and their Children's Aid (CA) social worker to ensure that the necessary household and child care tasks are implemented and consistent with the client's goals.
  • Work with clients to understand what role each family member will play in carrying out household and child care tasks.
  • Observe interactions of family members and their response to the service provided.
  • Communicate with CA social worker or supervisor regarding the client's progress, current functioning and ongoing need for service via both written and telephone reports.
  • Timely submission of documentation for hours worked and petty cash receipts.
  • Utilize company cell phone to access EVV system to clock in arrival/departure time.
  • Participate in in-service training and case conferences.
  • Provide training to parents or guardians in suitable childcare/parenting, health maintenance for children and household management to ensure the well-being and safety of the child.
  • Assisting with personal care needs of children under 10 years of age.
  • Accompanying parents or guardians on necessary appointments for minors, supervision of minors while responsible adult is absent due to required child welfare appointments.
  • Assisting in resource management and budgeting to maintain essential household assets that address children's needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Must have one of the following New York State certifications:


    • Home Health Aide
    • Home Attendant
    • Personal Care Aide
    • Homemaker Certification



  • Elementary education or better.
  • Prior homemaking experience.
