Job Summary

Plans, directs, administers, and evaluates the assigned instructional programs and services within Community Development. The Instructional Services Director leads and oversees online, hybrid, and in-person teaching and learning for Adult Education (i.e., high school equivalency, English language, and career training programs) across multiple locations. This role oversees instructional implementation and ensures student learning outcomes are met. The Director facilitates change, identifies opportunities and risks, and allocates resources to support student progress, retention, completion, and transition to career training and postsecondary education. The Director oversees program-wide professional learning for instructional teams and ensures curricular alignment with the Arizona Adult Education standards and state-wide professional learning initiatives. The Director reports to and supports the work of the Associate Dean for Instruction and Community Development.

Essential Functions

50% - Oversees the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned instructional programs and services within Community Development; makes instructional decisions; provides supervision of instructional services staff and leadership at the department level that includes online, hybrid, and in-person teaching and learning for Adult Education (high school equivalency diploma seekers and English language learners); leads college-related initiatives to ensure programs and instructional services align with goals, requirements, regulations, policies, and the organizational mission.
25% - Oversees Adult Education curriculum and instructional implementation, ensuring student learning outcomes are met; collects and analyzes instructional data to ensure effective teaching and learning; leads and implements program-wide professional learning in alignment with the Adult Education state-wide professional learning standards and initiatives.
15% - Serves as a knowledge expert in the area of assignment by overseeing, reviewing, and providing analyses and recommendations regarding grant-specific and program-wide instructional requirements leads grant application and report writing for instructional services programming; collaborates with District, college administrators, and other college departments to resolve issues and identify working solutions for instructional delivery.
10% - Participates in college- and district-level committees; attends conferences and Arizona Department of Education meetings and events; performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and four years of experience in areas such as planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional services programs which experience includes two years of management and supervisory experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Five (5) or more years of leadership experience administering instructional services or educational pathway programs

B. At least three (3) years of experience making data-driven decisions that lead to program improvement and successful student outcomes

C. At least two (2) years of experience designing, leading, and evaluating professional learning in an educational setting

D. At least two (2) years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum

E. At least two (2) years of experience with successful grant management that includes report writing, analysis, and compliance

Special Working Conditions

The primary work location for this position is RSC Tempe at 2323 W 14th St, Tempe, AZ, 85281. May be required to work at multiple sites or locations. May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time viewing a computer monitor. Mayr require lifting up to 10 lbs.
