Performs as the supervisor in the assigned sections by monitoring day to day operations including staff scheduling, daily assignments, training and equipment usage. Provides leadership, imaging expertise, support and education to the staff technologists to assure optimum performance of imaging procedures and protocols.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Completion of a formal training program, accredited by JRCNMT accredited training program in Nuclear Medicine or other accredited and approved Nuclear Medicine imaging program. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.Other duties may be assigned. 1. Manages personnel to ensure a well-developed cohesive work force to meet patient care needs as it relates to all aspects of imaging services within the institution. 2. Supervises human resource functions related to: interviewing, selection and retention of staff. 3. Facilitating new employee orientation in EKG and Nuclear Cardiology sections, ensuring competencies are obtained by new staff. 4. Performs performance appraisals, according to hospital policy. 5. Provides ongoing feedback to employees concerning job performance. Counsels and disciplines employees, when necessary, in conjunction with management. 6. Participates in fiscal activities and makes recommendations for preparation of the budget, in conjunction with management. 7. Assists in on-going educational programs, including in-services. 8. Responsible for the ordering of supplies and inventory maintenance. 9. Responsible for Accreditation and ensures all requirements are met and submitted on time. 10. Works with Cardiologist, Radiologist and Manager to develop and maintain protocols across the nuclear imaging section. 11. Engages in problem solving, crisis management and systems implementation throughout the hospital to promote and support patient care. 12. Promotes the team approach to providing EKG and Molecular Imaging services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, residents and medical staff. 13. Participates in planning and implementing change, maintaining and improving high quality, cost effective department operations. 14. Leads and coordinates daily clinical operations to assure optimum delivery of Nuclear imaging and EKG procedures as well as to ensure optimum patient care. 15. Reviews daily and next day schedule for areas of conflict or openings. Determines on a daily basis where additional studies can be scheduled each day. 16. Schedules Nuclear imaging and EKG technologists to ensure that adequate coverage is maintained at all times including call schedules. Prepares staffing schedules based on service demands and quality patient care standards. 17. In conjunction with manager, holds staff meetings to relay important information and discuss issues relating to the Nuclear Imaging and EKG departments. 18. Serves as a first contact for patients and staff regarding operational, daily tasks and customer satisfaction for the Nuclear Imaging and EKG sections. 19. Competently performs a full range of Nuclear imaging and EKG procedures to provide optimum information for the diagnosis and ultimate treatment of patients. 20. Educates patients regarding imaging and EKG procedures by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly. 21. Performs in the Nuclear Imaging and EKG staff role, as needed, within scope of practice. 22. Demonstrates appropriate level of knowledge and technical expertise of the position, maintaining professional and technical competencies and required by the organization, the accreditation and licensing bodies (where applicable). 23. Maintains the information and image systems of the Nuclear Imaging and EKG sections. 24. Troubleshoots equipment and network problems. Assures equipment maintenance by reporting malfunctions as required by policy and procedure and by regulatory agencies. 25. Maintains preventive maintenance schedule and coordinates the timing with the manager. 26. Reviews and updates quality assurance with the physicist (Nuclear Cardiology). 27. Conducts Quality Assurance audits, in collaboration with manager and Quality Assurance Coordinator. 28. Participates in Image Evaluation and Analysis. Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously. 2. Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the Health Care Team. 3. Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques, manipulation of the equipment, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised due to patient's condition, age or ability. 4. Maintains an expertise in anatomy, physiology and pathology relative to imaging in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care/safety.
