Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary
This position is needed to support work being performed to evaluate changes in the human gut micro biome due to diseases. This position will work on collecting biological samples, performing DNA and RNA sequencing, and analyzing sequencing data. They will also write reports and disseminate information.

This is a soft-funded position with continued employment contingent upon project needs, the availability of funding, and ongoing progress.

  • General working knowledge of basic genetics, cell biology and/or similar fields
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented, and self-motivated
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Perform comprehensive analysis of whole genome sequencing data.
  • Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines for variant calling and SNP analysis.

  • Utilize statistical methods to evaluate genetic data and identify significant associations.

  • Offer insight and perspectives and communicate effectively

  • Regularly review scientific literature

    • This includes reading peer-reviewed journals, pre-print servers (like bioRxiv), and relevant publications in bioinformatics, genomics, and personalized medicine.

    • Critically assess the significance and potential impact of new advancements on your current work and future projects.

  • Understand the underlying principles
    • Go beyond simply knowing about a new technology or finding; strive to understand the biological, statistical, and computational principles behind it.
