JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State is searching for a full time Food Service and Production Worker (Brandywine) - Grade 9 to join the team. Duties include:

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and service-oriented Food Service Worker to join our Housing & Foods team. This position plays a vital role in delivering quality dining services to students, staff, and visitors. The role involves food preparation, customer service, cleanliness, and general operations of a dining unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take customer orders and serve food using proper portion control and food safety guidelines.
  • Set up food stations, utensils, equipment, and signage per brand and in-house standards.
  • Prepare food items per established recipes and specifications.
  • Support the catering operation as needed with events
  • Open, operate, and close dining units according to standard procedures.
  • Operate equipment such as fryers, ovens, grills, slicers, beverage machines, and more.
  • Receive, store, rotate, and inventory supplies; report shortages or issues.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work and dining areas, including janitorial duties.
  • Wash and store pots, pans, and equipment.
  • Train and supervise part-time staff and ensure compliance with dress codes.
  • Perform custodial tasks such as vacuuming, floor care, window cleaning, and restroom maintenance.
  • Dismantle and clean kitchen exhaust systems and filters.
  • Attend mandatory training (some may be off-site).
  • Report emergencies and equipment malfunctions to supervisors.

Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Up to and including 3 months of effective experience.

Work Schedule:Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday 1:00 p.m. - 9:30pm

Days Off:Friday, Saturday
