Position Description
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the College of Charleston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology, beginning August 2025. This position is renewable for up to two additional years. We seek a broadly trained sociologist who demonstrates a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts and sciences environment. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester (typically two course preps), ranging from introductory to upper-level sociology courses. While the area of specialization is open, we seek candidates with an active, current research agenda. A Ph.D. in Sociology is required by the time of appointment.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology consists of 16 faculty (6 anthropologists and 10 sociologists) and has approximately 250 undergraduate majors ( SOCY 175, ANTH 75). Applicants may learn more about the department at http://sociology.cofc.edu/.
