Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer with Sabre Systems, Inc. you will be supporting the Airborne Acoustic Signal Processing (AASP) team that's integrating software into one of the Navy's most technologically sophisticated aircraft platforms, the P-8A. The selected applicant will be part of the Software Support Activity developing and integrating solutions for the Air Operational Flight Program. The selected applicant will:

  • Apply knowledge of computer science concepts and techniques, mathematics, and methods of statistical analysis to develop software to perform acoustic signal simulation to the P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance and Patrol Aircraft.
  • Employ software integration techniques to bring together components to work as a whole system.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
  • Update software or enhance existing software capabilities using C/C++, Java
  • May work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems, and develop specifications and performance requirements
  • May maintain databases within an application area
  • Utilize DevOps tools in the Atlassian suite - JIRA, collaborate and conduct build management with Bitbucket
  • Utilize Windows and Linux based assets

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop and sustain software
  • Willingness to participate in processes applicable to full software development lifecycle activities including requirements, design, development, integration and test
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux (preferably Ubuntu 18.04, 20.04, or newer)
  • An active DoD Secret Clearance is preferred and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance is required
  • CompTIA certification is highly desired; or must be able to obtain
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) Aircraft Weapons Systems and software processes a plus
  • Knowledge of software containers
  • Ability to develop software in a variety of languages, such as C, C++, Java
  • Technical Skills:
    • Real-Time Programming
    • Ocean Acoustics & Associated Signal Processing
