About the role:
The purpose of the Senior EH&S Manager position is to provide leadershipto drive continuous improvement in Environment, Health & Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance for our Coventry, RI location. The Senior EHS Manager will serve as a pivotal leader, shaping and driving the environmental and safety strategy for the BSC Coventry site. This influential role requires close collaboration with regulatory entities. The senior manager sets direction for and reinforces the importance of Environment, Health & Safety in the organization, manages the overall Environment, Health & Safety program, including development and implementation of strategies, policies and practices and works with plant senior management team to integrate Environment, Health & Safety performance into plant operations. The manager develops opportunities to provide strategic and competitive advantage through cross-functional interaction. This role will also play a part in the designing, planning and performing of engineering duties in the prevention, control and remediation of environmental health hazards utilizing various engineering disciplines.Work will include waste treatment and pollution control equipment as it relates to commercial hazardous chemical sterilization.

This role encompasses comprehensive oversight of environmental permits, regulatory communications, and the cultivation of a strong safety culture. Leading safety programs and guiding dedicated teams, the manager will ensure adherence to the highest safety standards. Additionally, they will integrate best practices by working closely with the global EHS team, leveraging insights and support to optimize site operations. As a key contributor to the EHS Council and community of practice, the manager will play a critical role in addressing evolving regulatory requirements, balancing business impact with compliance strategies to mitigate risks effectively. This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful change, ensuring operational excellence while fostering a proactive safety-first culture.

This role requires an onsite workmode from our Coventry, RI location.

Your responsibilities will include:



  • Develops and influence the strategy for the BSC Coventry site as it relates to safety and environmental regulations and compliance
  • Develops, maintains, and reviews the EH&S program strategy to ensure compliance with current and future legal, regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Ensurescompliance with all environmental regulatory required permits and authorizations.
  • Provide system and component design to reduce negative impact on the environment
  • Serve as a technical advisor on environmental policies and standards to ensure regulatory applicability
  • Prepare and submit all regulatory reports
  • Perform and maintain a FMEA for all regulatory failure modes and develop resource management schemes to ensure robust compliance
  • Gather and apply data to identify environmental risk and make recommendations for mitigation/improvement
  • Provide technical systems evaluations and work towards integrating latest technologies into pollution control systems.
  • Document and maintain plans, requirements, protocols, permits and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain and socialize a relevant set up KPIs reflecting environmental performance
  • Actively manage site wide ethylene oxide emissions and deliver year over year reductions
  • Inspect industrial and municipal facilities and programs along with 3rd party sterilizers to evaluate operational effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Report and escalate non-compliance as appropriate
  • Assist in budget planning and implementation


Required qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering,Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years experience in related fields
  • 5+ years of leadership or mentorship experience
  • Experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceutical Industry, Chemical Plants, or any other related industries
  • Extensive manufacturing industrial experience in EHS management and focus on air emission compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of air permit applications/amendments, compliance reporting, emission /calculation/estimation/modeling, and regulatory compliance analysis.
  • Experience with air emission control technologies and monitoring systems.
  • Advanced MS Office Skills



Preferred qualifications:



  • Hands on experience with analytical, mechanical and compliance software
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, documentation regulations and best practices
  • Excellent research and writing skills to prepare documents and reports detailing compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to assist in the identification and resolution of cross functional issues from worker's safety to environmental protection, anticipating problems and mitigating environmental damage
  • Experience with process safety management and risk assessments
  • Proven communication, influence and interpersonal skills

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
