The Business Intelligence Engineerwill report to the Engineering Lead of the Data Platform and Reporting squad. This role will focus on designing and developing scalable, high-performance data models and BI solutions that support analytical and reporting needs across Chatham's Enterprise Data Platform. To achieve this, the Business Intelligence Engineer will work closely with data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to define and implement robust data pipelines, semantic models, and visualizations. The role will involve a mix of activities including data modeling, Power BI development, and performance optimization, all aligned with the broader goal of enabling both internal and external users, and applications, to perform scalable and complex data analysis.

In this role you will:



  • Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support analytical and reporting needs.


    • Create and maintain star and snowflake schema-based semantic models optimized for performance and usability.


  • Develop and manage Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards, ensuring effective data visualization and insights.


    • Onboard client reports and debug time-sensitive issues, displaying proficient time management and prioritization skills.


  • Work closely with data engineers to define ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines that support analytical workloads.
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and security within BI solutions.
  • Optimize SQL queries and data models for performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into data solutions.
  • Document data definitions, data lineage, and modelling standards to enhance team knowledge and efficiency.


Contributors to your success:



  • 2-5 years of experience in data modelling, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Power BI, including dataset development, DAX, and report creation.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and experience designing star schema and snowflake schema.
  • Experience working with SQL databases and writing efficient queries.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering data models and BI solutions that drive actionable insights across the organization and its products. Your expertise in dimensional modelling (star and snowflake schemas), data visualization, and performance optimization will ensure that stakeholders can make informed decisions based on reliable and timely data. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, define data pipelines in partnership with data engineers, and uphold best practices in data governance and security-all while contributing to the continuous improvement of Chatham's Enterprise Data Platform.
