The Missourian Job Description
The Columbia Missourian is looking for an individual with experience in print design for a daily news operation to serve as a design editor for a one-year term. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible staff position. The anticipated start date for the position is Aug. 1, 2025. This position involves overseeing design of the Missourian's five-day-a-week print edition and 10 special sections each year. In this role, the person would work with multiple teams in the newsroom to put together a polished product for readers. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and able to multitask while working under tight deadlines. The design editor will maintain consistency in design style by maintaining style guides, templates and snippets. The right candidate will have experience with print design, photo editing, infographics design and an enthusiasm for working with aspiring journalists. 3 p.m.-11:30 p.m.; This position will require evening shifts and will be determined in consultation with the Executive Editor. This position could require some weekend work. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's or master's degree is preferred. At least two years of experience designing for a daily publication is preferred. Anticipated Hiring Range
