The Central Engineering organization is seeking to hire a highly dedicated and motivated individual to join the Substation Reliability Engineering section. The ideal candidate will play a major role in the monitoring and assessment of transmission and substation equipment health and performance. The Sr Engineer will develop, update, and manage all Asset Management Plans, facilitate equipment reliability teams and the corrective action program. This requires gathering equipment health related data, developing, and analyzing performance trends, and recommending improvements such as planned asset replacement or modification of maintenance strategies. The Sr Engineer will assist in the installation and maintenance of equipment condition monitoring systems, will analyze data from these systems and take appropriate action. The candidate will also actively participate in Research & Development projects associated with implementation of new technologies to lower equipment lifecycle costs. Collaboration with and support for personnel in Substation Operations and System and Transmission Operations will be required.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Continually monitor and assess equipment health, initiate corrective actions for problems, evaluate as-found conditions to enhance predictive capabilities, and identify adverse performance trends to facilitate common cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Implement and maintain software tools that provide equipment information to Operations (immediate concerns) and Engineering (long-term health).
  • Create ad-hoc and customized data queries for reports and analysis and maintain asset health indexes for all in-program asset types.
  • Develop and maintain all Asset Management Plans (AMPs) for major equipment types, create and maintain equipment performance metrics, facilitate Reliability Team meetings for each asset type, determine equipment replacement priorities for capital replacement programs, and troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Assist in the revision of maintenance instructions and job plans to improve maintenance processes and data collection.
  • Maintain equipment PM Basis and administrate the RCM module in Maximo, ensuring alignment of Maximo PMs, maintenance instructions, and Datasplice job plans with RCM and PM basis, while facilitating the PM change process and developing RCM for new asset types.
  • Conduct periodic asset failure mode reviews in the RCM module to evaluate asset performance, identify adverse trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Implement quality reviews of CM work orders and maintain Engage metrics work order database to enable effective equipment performance trending.
  • Administrate the Corrective Action Program (Incident Reporting System) and the Operating Experience (OE) program.
  • Perform root and apparent cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Participate on industry team's meeting for asset management, substation equipment, and operating experience.
