Coordinate-Measuring Machine/Mechanical Inspector

Working Monday - Thrusday 6:00 am-4:30 pm

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Coordinate-Measuring Machine/Mechanical Inspector: Range starts at $21 an hour

Pay commensurate with experience.

SUMMARY

The CMM inspector develops/writes CMM programs to check manufactured mechanical parts. Feedback is provided back to production and supervisor following inspection results. Programming includes development of both first piece inspection programs and production inspection plans. Inspection of manufactured mechanical parts is expected as necessary based on production demand.

Coordinate-Measuring Machine/Mechanical Inspector Responsibilities Include:

Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Reads and interprets inspection or test instructions, product drawings, manuals, Manual Process Instructions, Quality Assurance Procedures, Process Control Documents, Mil-Specs, and Statement of Work, etc.
  • Determines acceptability of material and/or product from interpretations of customers drawings and specifications and industry standards.
  • Performs material handling of material and product in compliance with internal and external procedures.
  • Interacts with customer representatives and auditors.
  • Proofs and reviews Quality documents relating to inspection requirements and customer requirements.
  • Completes and maintains all necessary documents required for the job assignment.

Coordinate-Measuring Machine/Mechanical Inspector Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three (3) years of experience in programming and operating a CMM in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand: Specifications, job orders, Bill of Materials, and work instructions.
  • Following and completion of inspection documentation.
  • Ability to communicate quality non-conformance verbally and effectively present information to supervisor, support staff, production staff and co-workers.
  • Must be able to write clear, concise procedures and work instructions.
  • Must be able to perform tests and inspections.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001/2008 and AS9100 quality system requirements is required.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 6S preferred.
  • Strong GD&T interpretation and measurement abilities.
  • Must have knowledge/experience with the following: basic ship math, basic geometry, measurement systems, variable gages, measurement scales, angle measurement instruments, calibrations systems, blueprints and engineering drawings, inspection planning, identification of non-conforming material, nonconformance levels of severity.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, ability to multi-task and is action oriented
  • Self directed requiring minimal supervision, urgency, and attention to detail and problem solving.
  • Experience using various measuring devices (Calipers, Micrometers, Fixtures, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and technical descriptions.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Database software, word processing software, and spreadsheet software, Interpersonal skills; telephone skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management; basic computer skills
  • Six-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
  • ASQ certification a plus
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation prior to hire

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Moderate sound (e.g., business office with office machines and computers, people traffic), some outdoor weather conditions and all routine job tasks inherent in position; the ability to stand and walk one-third to two-third of the time; the ability to talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; close vision; color vision; depth perception and ability to correct and adjust focus.
  • Working Monday - Thrusday 6:00 am-4:30 pm
