General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The maintenance manager is responsible for leading the maintenance team to repair and maintain all grounds, facility buildings, machinery, and equipment with the most efficient use of internal and external resources possible. This is to ensure the most efficient plant operations possible through decreased plant downtime and increased reliability. They are expected to be safety leaders and an integral member of the safety program. Additionally, they are expected to be subject matter experts in plant operations. In addition to working with his maintenance team, the Maintenance Manager may be called upon to assist in training plant employees on basic operational and maintenance functions to ensure efficient operations. The maintenance manager is responsible for time keeping, scheduling and performance management of their direct reports.

  • Ability to create and lead a cultural focus on safety.

  • Ability to efficiently diagnose, disassemble, repair, or replace machinery and teach and lead team to do the same.

  • Ability to follow company policy regarding worker safety and housekeeping standards.

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables:

  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis of equipment failures and production time loss issues.

  • Plan and oversee all site maintenance and repair activities.

    • Allocate workload of maintenance staff and contractors; self-manage as needed.

    • Coordinate with production to align maintenance activities with operations.

  • Ensure maintenance department is adequately staffed to support 24/ 7 operations.

  • Maintain & buildrelationships with coworkers, contractors, and service providers.

  • Ensure compliance with personnel safety, food safety policies, and GMPs.

  • Create a positive work environment for the maintenance team.

  • Develop team members to successfully perform all aspects of maintenance operations.

  • Stay current on technology, methods, and regulations in pet food production and industrial equipment.

  • Manage CMMS system for work requests, orders, and preventive maintenance.

  • Track and assign tasks, maintain timecards, attendance, and personnel records.

  • Hire, coach, lead, and evaluate team performance; coordinate additional training.

  • Partner with EHSS to ensure safety training completion and a safe work environment.

  • Ensure maintenance work aligns with production, food safety, and quality standards.

  • Resolve employee issues in collaboration with HR and management.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of current plans and apply improvements for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, values, and ethical standards.

  • Maintain preventive maintenance (PM) programs to meet industry standards.

  • Report on maintenance metrics including PM completion and overdue reports.

  • Develop maintenance procedures for new equipment and ensure compliance with OSHA and inspection standards.

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform necessary adjustments.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work at heights (climb ladders).

  • Preferred: Experience in welding, electrical, bearings, chains, shafts, belts, pumps, motors, etc.

  • Preferred: Understanding of extrusion, pelleting, particle size reduction, and dry bulk handling.

  • Preferred: Strong maintenance planning experience and focus on minimizing breakdowns and maximizing equipment uptime.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $72,900 - $97,180. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience.

  • This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and retirement plan participation, includingan employer contribution of up to7% into your 401(k).
