Organizational Unit Overview |
The Admissions Office at Brody School of Medicine (
BSOM) is responsible for overseeing and administering the admissions program for the School of Medicine while recruiting capable medical students, who will ultimately become physicians that will meet the needs of people in North Carolina and beyond, which is vital to fulfill the school's mission. In meeting this responsibility, the School of Medicine seeks competent, well-prepared students from all backgrounds, who have a clear dedication to medicine. Consistent with our mission, special efforts are made to recruit students committed to serving rural and underserved communities of North Carolina. |
Job Duties |
The Brody School of Medicine Admissions office is currently seeking to hire a full-time Admissions Officer & Recruitment Coordinator to join their team.
This position reports directly to the Director of Admissions and serves as one of the initial points of contact for the medical school.
Specific Duties involve-
Data Management - This position is responsible using for using several software programs including the
AMCAS national application system,
ECU Banner/Xtender, and the Microsoft Office suite applications when managing applicant data, including but not limited to personal applicant details, transcripts, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, personal statements, application status updates, interview schedules and assignments, evaluations, and admissions decisions. This information is prepared and reported to the Admissions Committee.
Admissions Administration - The admissions process is the prime function of the Admissions Office and this position assists in processing applications, reviewing applicant files, following up with incomplete applications, and handling issues (including but not limited to criminal background checks, prerequisite requirements, recommendation letters, and residency requirements). The positions primary responsibility will be given to processing secondary applications and will serve as backup for processing primary applications as needed. This individual will be meeting with applicants on scheduled interview days between August and March, and will oversee interview day activities and committee members' involvement. Coordinates and communicates interview schedule and assignments to both the applicant and the Admissions Committee. Communicates Selection Committee decisions with applicants using
AMCAS templates provided by the Director and the Associate Dean.
Recruitment - This position, along with the Associate Dean and Director, will share in the responsibility of advising and recruiting potential students. The individual serves as the primary contact for recruitment activities and coordinates recruitment initiatives and special events , including First Look events (one in the fall and one in the spring), Second Look/Accepted Student's Day (Spring),
BSOM campus tours/on-campus student visits, virtual events, and off-campus recruitment fairs/events. This position is responsible for coordinating the participation of the Director and Associate Dean, along with their availability in all recruitment activities. Maintains a database of potential students and campus visits. |
Minimum Education/Experience |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
