Performs pre analytical specimen preparation including stamping in, verifying ID, identification, test process and evaluating specimen quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs computer functions including order entry, result entry, inquiries and worksheet and/or report maintenance.
  • Performs waived moderately and highly complex tests under direction of supervisor, as permitted by regulatory standards.
  • Performs daily QC and routine troubleshooting and maintenance of lab instruments and prepares reagents as necessary.
  • Provides timely and courteous customer service for provider calling into the lab. Maintains workplace in a neat and orderly fashion and maintains supply inventory to keep work area adequately stocked. Trains new technicians and /or processing staff and interns from academic programs.
  • Participates in departmental continuous improvement programs as necessary.
