Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate Damage Attribution

The Dartmouth Climate Modeling & Impacts Group (CMIG) seeks a postdoctoral fellow to join a dynamic and inclusive research group that pursues wide-ranging projects assessing the origins and consequences of climate change. Applicants should be broadly interested in climate attribution and climate damage attribution. The successful candidate will co-develop and extend existing end-to-end climate damage attribution projects with the PI to attribute observed losses from climate change, considering extremes beyond heat waves, like droughts, floods, tropical cyclones, wildfires, among others.

This position is full-time, non-remote, in-residence at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH, with start date as early as Fall 2025/Winter 2026. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal up to two more years. The salary is $72,000 per year and is paid in monthly installments, with a 3% annual increase for each renewal year. Postdoctoral fellows receive benefits as for the status "Research Associate B." Postdoctoral researchers are advised and hosted in the Geography Department. They are also supported by the Guarini School for Graduate and Advanced Studies, including their community initiatives.

• PhD in climate, atmospheric, or hydrological science (broadly defined), or in causal inference and/or climate economics, or a closely related relevant discipline. Applicants may be ABD, but must have received their degree by the appointment start date.
• Experience with distributed data, climate models of various complexity, empirical methods, and working in a Linux/Unix environment with version control in open languages like Python is preferred.
