Overview Department Information
The Office of Research Integrity Assurance works with faculty oversight committees and boards to promote the ethical conduct of research and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements relating to research involving human subjects, vertebrate animal subjects, rDNA, synthetic nucleic acids, and dual-use research of concern research. The committees supported by this office include the Institutional Review Board, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, the Institutional Biosafety Committee, and the Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC) Institutional Review Entity. Job Summary
Facilitate compliance for research conducted at Georgia Institute of Technology. Support the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) by serving as the primary intake handler for animal subjects and recombinant DNA research protocol applications. Conduct preliminary reviews of such applications/protocols, coordinate additional reviews by other stakeholders, and communicate the results of reviews to the researchers. Provide user assistance for the compliance software system through which applications are submitted. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Georgia Tech faculty, staff, students, IACUC & IBC members (including community members), Institute leadership, and external partners. This position typically will advise and counsel: Institute leadership, researchers, IACUC staff, IBC staff, veterinarians, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) staff, and others.
