Position Highlights

The College of Medicine is seeking applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Program Coordinator for a new Bachelor of Science Program in Medicine. The BS in Medicine degree is a four-year undergraduate degree that is housed in the COM-Tucson. This position is responsible for administering and managing the academic administrative matters such as assisting with course planning, updating course readings and session materials, confirming room and course scheduling, tracking of attendance and grades, and updating course material in D2L for the Bachelor of Science - Medicine program. This position serves as a resource to BS in Medicine Program faculty, facilitators and students, ensuring the academic program operates appropriately.

Duties & Responsibilities

Course Planning:

  • Collaborate and communicate with course directors.
  • Provide day-to-day assistance with the administration and workflow of the BS in Medicine Program using innovation and creativity.
  • Use University system tools to update/import D2L calendar from previous semester; change/correct dates; update/confirm course schedule with course Directors; and confirm/update course schedule with course directors and confirm/update course readings for each session.
  • Create and update session materials (PPTx) - particularly regarding small group meeting spaces (101, 201, and 296).
  • Support
    course directors, invite all participating faculty/guest lecturers/small group
    facilitator/TAs/student preceptors
  • Use Outlook calendars; create RSVP lists; follow-up as needed to non-responders.
  • Work with Program Coordinator, Sr., to ensure appropriate classroom space; particularly for small group activities (101, 201 and 296).
  • Provide Bio-Comm a list of dates for podcasting, slide advancers, etc.
  • Available to respond to >1000 students.

During Semester:

  • Create groups for various activities (BSM 101, 201, and 296).
  • Create and distribute grade tracking sheets for facilitators; collect and enter data for grades from sheets.
  • Work with iCAPS on scheduling Standardized Patient activities for midterm and final for 296.
  • Keep track of student absences and makeup assignments.
  • Update quiz forms on D2L.
  • Remain in contact with all faculty (as above); send calendar reminders to coordinate the 40+ guest lecturers.
  • Must be consistently present, in person, in preparation for classes, prepared to solve problems in the moment and clean up afterward.

End of Semester:

  • Help course directors with assignments of essay exam reading for various faculty (101 and 201).
  • Conduct data entry for scoring; and generate reports from exam grades.
  • Share knowledge and have input on the BS in Medicine program objectives and goals.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Program Coordinator and inter-departmental faculty for BSM program learning outcomes, analyzing data and student scores.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with University of Arizona polices, procedures, and systems, including UAccess and D2L.
  • Experience working in higher education.
