MaineHealth is seeking an experienced and collaborative healthcare leader to serve as Vice President of Operations for MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland, a vibrant 740-bed flagship academic hospital with a strong reputation and history of delivering high quality healthcare services.

The Vice President (VP) of Operations reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Maine Medical Center Portland and holds full strategic and operational responsibility for assigned areas. In concert with the COO, the VP of Operations designs tactics to meet strategic financial, operational, clinical and administrative goals and policies for Maine Medical Center Portland. The VP of Operations works closely with department chairs, clinical program leadership, nursing leaders, system administrative and financial leadership to drive operational excellence.

The VP of Operations will approach this role as a business leader aligning the work of care teams to the interests of patients and payers, while building on Maine Medical Center Portland's strengths. The VP of Operations will add considerable value to the hospital and system's success by operationalizing solutions that address current and emerging challenges in delivering high quality care in a sustainable way and ensuring Maine Medical Center Portland's strong operational and fiscal performance.

The VP of Operations will be a visible and engaged leader and will support the MaineHealth vision "Working together so our communities are the healthiest in America." The ideal candidate will bring qualities that demonstrate affinity and alignment with MaineHealth's core values and guide all initiatives and interactions.

Requirements:

1. Master's degree required (e.g. MBA, MHA, MSN, MPH).

2. 8-10 years' experience in a top healthcare management position. Teaching hospital experience required.

3. Ability to plan, organize, implement and manage a complex organization. Demonstrated analytical, operational, and financial skills.

4. A strong leader who has demonstrated ability to execute a vision for a quality healthcare delivery organization.

5. An individual with a reputation for developing strong provider relations and a successful track record partnering with and understanding the dynamics of a mixed model medical staff. Most have a genuine commitment to establishing trusting and collaborative partnerships with providers.

6. Experience in a high performing, measurement-driven organization that also has established an open and inclusive culture.

7. A track record of building strong and effective teams and mentoring others with a management style that empowers others and delegates.

8. A contemporary leader who can anticipate, lead and manage change, continually identifying opportunities for innovation and growth and adapting to trends in the market. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of best practices and how to implement them. Candidates must have a superb track record of executing initiatives.

9. A proven champion of quality and patient safety initiatives; candidates should have led initiatives that have resulted in demonstrable improvements in organizational quality measures.
