JOB SUMMARY
Provides support for pre-award research services and other teams. Performs a variety of assignments to analyze and resolve problems related to funding proposals, research budgets, compliance and understands priorities related to the various related university, program, and federal deadlines.
This position is working among the Proposal team in Sponsored Programs. It is a highly deadline driven job working with the research teams, PIs and across SPA teams to review proposals, JITs, regulatory requirements and various modifications which route through SPA Pre-Award to advance the research portfolio here at UT Southwestern. Candidates with heavy customer service and deadline driven experience is preferred.
This position is mostly remote and will be in office office on a quarterly basis and as needed. Must reside in the state of Texas.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, public administration, or related field.
- Experience
1 year experience in research administration, healthcare administration, public administration, finance, or business with ability to understand and drill into regulatory and compliance requirements which are woven into the role
Preferred
- Licenses and Certifications
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation preferred. Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES
- Has responsibilities performing tasks for the pre-award services within Sponsored Programs Administration.
- Manages and coordinates basic funding opportunity information to potential applicants at the university.
- Provides guidance to researchers and their staff for basic proposal development and submission by successful integration of sponsor and university announcements and applying knowledge from guidelines for application preparation.
- Reviews content of proposals for completeness, accuracy and adherence to sponsor guidelines.
- May provide backup to post-award financial group in setup of awards by providing support to researchers; interpreting award terms and conditions, obtaining approvals, and preparing award changes, no-cost extensions, progress reports, and non-financial obligations.
- Monitors status of pending proposals and updates eGrants and the PI's Departmental staff where applicable to ensure timely submissions while adhering to internal preliminary deadlines.
- This job is a heavily-monitored, deadline-driven position which requires time-management skills and dedication to handle the needs and pivot the workload to ensure success of the faculty, department and the University securing research funding.
- Familiarity with broad knowledge of the entire award lifecycle. Provides assistance gathering information needed to answer pre-award inquiries. Supports ServiceNow issues by routing, working and closing service tickets.
- Aids in gathering information needed to ensure compliance which may include additional research and review of new regulatory requirements and rules by various agencies.
- May be included in rotation schedule for Office Hours for Campus research support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
