Position Purpose |
Serves as a member of the information services team at the Health Sciences and Biomedical Libraries, providing user-centered service pertaining to information services (circulation, ready reference, technology support, course reserves, collection management and maintenance, and resource sharing) to the Geisel School of Medicine and the Dartmouth Health communities. The Information Access Assistant (
IAA) triages questions received in-person and remotely from library users, supports library initiatives by assisting with projects in information services, marketing, education, technology, and collections. Supporting educational and clinical user needs, the
IAA will work at both Health Sciences and Biomedical Libraries locations, Dana Biomedical Library and Matthews-Fuller Health Sciences Library, as assigned.

Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience |

- Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated commitment to delivering user-centered public service
- Excellent technology skills, including ability to troubleshoot software and hardware, and learn new programs and applications quickly
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and other relevant programs and software applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to competently interact with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students
- Ability to work discreetly with confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to organize work effectively and to set and modify work priorities, often under pressure or with constant interruptions.
- Ability to travel between Dartmouth campus and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center

Preferred Qualifications |
- Course work or work experience in life or health sciences
- Experience with research and searching library databases
- Proficiency with an integrated library system, preferably ExLibris Alma
- Experience working with Qualtrics

Description |
Information Services Support
- Delivers user-centered service through direct interactions with the Geisel and Dartmouth Health communities at the Information Services Desk at Matthews-Fuller Health Sciences Library and Dana Biomedical Library, as assigned; specific duties may include, but are not limited to, checking materials in and out, explaining library procedures and policies to users, updating patron records, managing course reserves, assisting with resource sharing, scheduling library spaces, and verifying and issuing user access privileges
- Responds to a variety of in-person, telephone, chat, and email inquiries related to library resources and users' research needs; independently answers information requests and refers questions to librarians as appropriate
- Provides users with information about connecting to resources from off-campus.
- Provides technical support including software and hardware troubleshooting for users and staff.
