Position Purpose |
The Arts & Sciences Program Administrator serves as the principal administrative officer for the Departments of Middle Eastern Studies and Jewish Studies, overseeing a comprehensive portfolio that includes operational management, financial oversight, faculty and student support, and event coordination. Working in close partnership with the department chairs, the Program Administrator ensures both departments function smoothly and effectively, with a strong emphasis on cross-cultural competency, strategic coordination, and responsive communication.
This position requires a high degree of independence, discretion, and cultural sensitivity, particularly given the globally engaged and interdisciplinary nature of these academic departments. The Administrator supervises one full-time administrative assistant and multiple student employees, supporting diverse faculty and students in a dynamic academic environment. |

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative management.
- Experience supervising full-time and student staff, with demonstrated success in high-autonomy roles.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven leadership and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to navigate sensitive issues tactfully.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to support individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Financial literacy and proficiency in institutional systems (e.g., Oracle, Banner, OASIS). Commitment to confidentiality, equity, and ethical professional practice.

- Background in higher education or multicultural academic settings strongly preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
