Job Description

About the Role

As an Animal Health Technician at AFB International, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our animals receive top-quality care. Using your veterinary technician expertise, you will assist with medical procedures, monitor animal health, and help maintain a safe, clean, and enriching environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering compassionate daily care to all animals, prioritizing their comfort and wellbeing
  • Assisting veterinarians during surgeries, including anesthesia monitoring and equipment prep
  • Collecting samples and performing diagnostic tests such as bloodwork, radiology, and lab work
  • Administering medications, IV fluids, wound care, and oxygen therapy as needed
  • Monitoring and documenting animal health, maintaining accurate medical records using AviMark software
  • Supporting animal intake and health assessments for new arrivals
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and safe kennel areas following USDA and AWA standards
  • Educating and collaborating with team members to ensure consistent animal care practices

What We're Looking For

  • Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a veterinary or animal care environment
  • Proficient in veterinary nursing, diagnostics, and surgical assisting
  • Compassionate, patient, and comfortable working with diverse animals
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various environments
