Responsibilities

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a new project that will modernize a web-based .NET system into the Azure Cloud using various cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, the goal of this project will be to automate the customer's manual processes. The software development lifecycle will leverage an Agile framework with DevSecOps processes using Agile teams.

What you will do:

This requisition is for a Data Engineer to support an Agile team to modernize the legacy system and automate the manual processes. The data engineer is expected to:

    Work with the customer and the customer's technical resources to translate requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories for both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Support Agile teams in Backlog planning, work item refinement and story point analysis.
  • Ensure that User Stories have well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • For User Stories assigned to the engineer, ensure that work meets the acceptance criteria and is completed by the end of the sprint.
  • Demonstrate work completed in a sprint to the customer.
  • Support sprint retrospectives and incremental improvements based on feedback.
  • Design solutions using industry standard design patterns and best practices.
  • Apply coding standards that support secure coding practices.
  • Port, mine and/or extract usable data from valuable data sources.
  • Using machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers.
  • Carrying out the preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
  • Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for development.
  • Process, clean, and validate the integrity of data to be used.
  • Analyze large amounts of information to find patterns and solutions.
  • Develop prediction systems and machine learning algorithms.
  • Presenting results in a clear manner.
  • Propose solutions and strategies to tackle business challenges.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience. An additional 4 years of experience will be accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • Experience with using GitHub to leverage CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps deployments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud migrations and microservices, virtualization and containerized deployments.
  • Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL and No SQL database technologies.
  • Experience with setting up databases, schemas, and managing development databases.
  • Strong math and data wrangling skills.
  • Strong software engineering background.
  • Problem solving aptitude, analytic mind and great business sense.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to execute in a remote team environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder (Permanent Resident of the US).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Agency Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile certification.
  • Experience using Team Foundation Server (aka Azure Dev Ops) for managing sprint backlogs, features and user stories.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
