Are you an experienced Commercial Banker with a deep understanding of middle market CRE and commercial real estate clients? Associated Bank is seeking a strategic and growth-minded Relationship Manager to manage, lead, and expand a portfolio of commercial real estate banking relationships. This role is designed for a high-impact individual who excels at managing complex credit needs, building client trust, and delivering a full suite of commercial banking solutions.

Job Summary

As a Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of commercial and commercial real estate clients. Your primary focus will be credit-worthy, established middle market companies and real estate developers/investors with sophisticated banking needs.

This role requires strong collaboration with internal product partners to deliver customized financing, deposit, and treasury solutions that support your clients' growth and long-term success. You'll actively drive portfolio growth while ensuring the risk profile of the portfolio remains sound and compliant with all internal and regulatory standards.

Job Accountabilities

  • Client Management & Growth:
    Lead relationship strategy for a portfolio of commercial and CRE clients. Drive deposit, loan, and fee income growth through proactive client engagement and expansion of wallet share.

  • Business Development:
    Source and close new commercial banking relationships through a network of centers of influence (COIs), strategic outreach, and market visibility. Focus on opportunities aligned with the bank's commercial and CRE credit appetite.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with specialists across Treasury Management, Capital Markets, Private Banking, and Wealth Management to deliver holistic financial solutions.

  • Credit Structuring:
    Collaborate with credit partners and portfolio managers to assess credit risk, structure financing solutions, and prepare high-quality credit presentations for approval.

  • Market Intelligence & Advisory:
    Provide clients with insights on market trends, industry benchmarks, and banking solutions to support business decisions and long-term planning.

  • Portfolio Oversight:
    Maintain strong risk discipline through ongoing monitoring of loan performance, covenant compliance, and adherence to credit policy and regulatory standards.

  • Community Engagement:
    Represent the bank within the local business community. Build the bank's brand and foster referrals through board service, civic participation, and industry group involvement.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience Business Required

Experience

  • 5-7 years Commercial banking or business to business sales. Business development and credit skills. Knowledge of non-borrowing products, past track records of sales and client management success. Required

Licenses and Certifications
