Position Summary: The CFD Modeling Manager leads the development, innovation, and quality of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling across the organization. They manage a team of subject matter experts, driving alignment on technical standards, best practices, and team capabilities while ensuring service excellence and sustainable growth. They are responsible for managing CFD modeling projects, including budgets, schedules, and deliverables while collaborating with engineering, operations, and management teams. The CFD Modeling Manager also works closely with construction teams to integrate CFD modeling into project designs, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field required. 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 10 years in CFD modeling and mechanical design required, including mission critical and data center experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
  • Proven expertise in leading cross-disciplinary technical design teams.
  • Experience with a variety of facilities, including healthcare, research labs, and large venues.
  • Proficiency in CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, StarCCM+, FloEFD, and FDS.
  • Advanced understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
  • Familiarity with AEC software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Navisworks).
  • Scripting skills (Python, C++, Java) for automation and modeling enhancements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, including ASHRAE standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality in modeling outcomes.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Team Development:



  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to CFD Modeling teams.
  • Develop team goals, performance expectations, and growth opportunities in collaboration with discipline leadership.
  • Lead resource planning, team meetings, and alignment efforts to optimize performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by developing training programs and advancing team capabilities.
  • Support the development of the annual growth strategy for CFD modeling services in collaboration with the leadership.



CFD Modeling Projects & Project Execution:



  • Manage CFD modeling projects, ensuring quality, cost, and scheduling meet client and financial objectives.
  • Function as a subject matter expert throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through commissioning.
  • Perform advanced airflow CFD modeling, including simulations for interior and exterior spaces, with a focus on data centers.
  • Perform quantitative analysis, sensitivity assessments, and design optimizations for system performance.
  • Conduct and present CFD modeling studies to stakeholders.



Standards & Process Optimization:



  • Establish and maintain technical CFD modeling standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Evaluate and implement modeling software solutions for quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate new and existing standards effectively.


Industry Leadership & Business Development:



  • Leverage opportunities and relationships internally across Henderson Companies and externally across the industry to develop business growth.
  • Represent the company as a thought leader through blogs, presentations, and conference participation.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Create, lead and manage client engagement strategies, project pursuits, and execution plans specific to growing the CFD modeling service.


Technical Expertise & Innovation:



  • Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and technologies to keep the team at the forefront of CFD modeling.
  • Evaluate and recommend CFD modeling software and tools for quality and efficiency.
  • Assess and validate data inputs, calibrate models, and simulate scenarios for system evaluation.
  • Apply scripting and automation tools to enhance modeling efficiency and accuracy.


Business & Metrics Tracking:



  • Participate in annual internal business planning and strategy sessions to set growth goals.
  • Track internal business and financial metrics, reporting on key accomplishments and ensuring projects contribute to overall business growth.
