The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Manager, Manufacturing Operations to oversee manufacturing operations. They will direct and coordinate activities in the manufacturing of products and will report to the Site Manager, Manufacturing.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Carpinteria, CA office.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:00am-4:30pm

How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Drive a Safety Culture by managing department's safety procedures, hazardous waste, maintenance requirements, training programs, and storage facilities.
  • Nurture ABS(Avantor Business System) culture by leading kaizen events, engaging workforce in continuous improvement activities and sustainment.
  • Ensure Tier Daily Management(TDM) boards are updated and ensure problem solving activities are being held on a frequent basis. Lead A3 activities.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards, ie 6S, Hour by Hour charts, TDM.
  • Ensure products are scheduled and manufactured in accordance to the needs of Customer.
  • Interact with department supervisors in problem solving, decision-making, and personnel issues.
  • Define objectives of the department.
  • Maintain raw material inventories.
  • Maintain manufacturing procedures.
  • Evaluate department supervisors, review department personnel and determine headcount requirements.
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality within the scope of the job description.

What we're looking for:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:
  • 4+ years related experience and/or training.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Chemistry preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of machine operation and production scheduling. Understanding of NuSil's products.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Green belt certification a plus.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$112,400.00 - $187,400.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
