Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing patient care, providing quality assurance, maintaining infection control, administering regulatory compliance and preserving fiscal stability. The Office of Clinical Operations is an integral part of the School and their primary mission is to provide the highest quality education and training to students and to provide the highest quality dental treatment available for patients.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the three undergraduate student laboratories, undergraduate dental students, and dental hygiene students. This position is responsible for maintaining all equipment in three different laboratories, purchasing, and organizing all pre-clinical student materials and consumables, maintaining student leases, and coordinating coursework materials with faculty and staff. This position is required to forecast inventory needs and to maintain the student lease budget and the student fees budget. This position supports the various licensure exams that are hosted at the ASOD every year. This position is also responsible for providing administrative cross-coverage for other areas within Clinical Operations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and previous related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with purchasing and receiving.
Experience with University or State purchasing.
Experience with inventory management.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Inventory Management applications.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Physical Effort: Moving material up to 35Ibs is routine. Extended periods of standing and reaching. Maneuvering inventory carts weighing up to 200 pounds is routine.

Visual Attention, Mental Concentration, and Manipulative Skills: Critical when ordering materials (catalog number, unit price, total amount, shipping address, delivery dates, etc.). Critical when preparing items for sterilization, sterilizing materials, and distributing items for patient care.

Safety for others: Issued materials must be examined and determined to be in a safe and operational condition for patient safety and staff safety for infection control. The work environment must adhere to all EOE and OSHA policies and procedures specific to the different areas to ensure safety of staff. Adherence to HIPAA is crucial to avoid costly and lengthy litigation.
