Overview:

Connection has a fantastic opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for a Desktop Support Technician. This is an onsite opportunity in the Greenfield, IN area. The opportunity is based on a contract basis with the possibility of extension.  We offer excellent pay and benefits for contractors supporting a well-established manufacturing company.

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to support approximately 300 employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands-on role requires candidates to be comfortable staying active throughout the day and adhering to safety protocols, including the use of steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection in designated areas.

This position is essential to maintaining efficient IT operations, delivering front-line technical support, troubleshooting issues within Microsoft environments, assisting with basic network tasks, and managing desktop hardware and software. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and a strong customer service mindset, with the potential to grow into a full-time role.

Responsibilities:

End-User Support & Troubleshooting:



  • Provide first-level technical support for Windows OS, Office 365, and other Microsoft applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues across desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
  • Assist users with configuring and troubleshooting email, applications, and basic network access.



Network Support:



  • Monitor and troubleshoot basic network connectivity (e.g., switches, routers, Wi-Fi).
  • Assist with configuration and maintenance of network equipment as directed.
  • Escalate advanced network issues to senior IT teams.



Desktop & Device Management:



  • Deploy, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Ensure proper installation and functionality of operating systems and software.
  • Support peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and monitors.



Collaboration:



  • Work closely with other IT teams (Systems, Data Engineering, Development, AS400) for issue escalation and resolution.
  • Participate in IT meetings to share support trends and contribute to process improvements.



Documentation:



  • Maintain accurate documentation for support procedures, configurations, and resolutions.
  • Contribute to and update the IT knowledge base regularly.

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in desktop or IT support roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows OS, Office 365, and standard desktop applications.
  • Solid understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Comfortable working on-site in a manufacturing environment and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Team-oriented and proactive with a willingness to learn and support various IT functions.



Preferred Certifications:



  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or equivalent certifications are a plus.
