Summary/Description: The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist, Associate Director for Ambulatory Pharmacy Service and Compliance. This position is responsible for assuring operations coordination, quality, regulatory compliance/quality improvement and cost effectiveness of pharmacy services. Specific pharmacy oversight will be provided for Wood St. pharmacy (specialty pharmacy operations, mail order, IDOC program) and overall ambulatory pharmacy regulatory compliance/quality improvement efforts. Duties: The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well. Clinical Pharmacist duties include working closely with pharmacy technicians, students, medical staff and patients in providing patient-centered clinical pharmacy services. - Lead strategic planning efforts for our patient support programs, mail order services, regulatory compliance and other associated programs and services and ensure the planaligns with the strategic plans for the Retzky College of Pharmacy, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services and UI Health. - Identify and lead the development, implementation/monitoring/process improvement of new or current programs, including application and refinement of the pharmacy practice model relative to the clinical pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy externs within our patient outreach services, mail order service and regulatory compliance/quality improvement. - Ensure efficient operations, supervision, and evaluation of clinical operations of the patient outreach programs and mail order service in addition to other affiliated services and programs. - Optimize reimbursement process/charges/claims/collections; improve efficiency; review medication use by physicians and other healthcare providers; assure pharmacy services are delivered in a patient centered and culturally sensitive manner thereby ensuring optimal direct patient care. - Assist in the evaluation of the fiscal activities of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services, including forecasting of annual operating and personnel budgets. - Keep apprised of regulatory changes and new requirements and work with the Director to implement and ensure compliance. - Present results of new program implementation, revision of current programs, etc. at professional meetings. - Represent pharmacy on committees as assigned; serve as Chair or Co-Chair when appropriate. - Provide supportive structure and assist in the experiential component of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency programs. - Direct and support student learning (IPPE and APPE). - Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: - Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy with a PharmD. - Must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist by start date. - A minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience required in an ambulatory setting (i.e. outpatient/retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy services, or a combination). - Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary, progressive ambulatory pharmacy services required. - Effective oral and written communication skills. - Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. - Must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy. Academic rank commensurate with experience.
