Job Description: Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a X-Plant Manufacturing Engineer to join our Final Assembly Line (FAL) based in Mobile, AL. Responsible for managing/monitoring all non-conformities, design deviations, OSW, and late changes to support production. Responds to technical questions and creates work orders based on non-conformities. Establishes and maintains effective communication with European Plants, on-site Production teams, Quality, Suppliers, Design Engineers, and Aircraft Managers. Serve as FAL focal point regarding Plant activities and their suppliers through constant coordination and monitoring. Provide technical support to X-Plant production. Establish/verify the technical content of non-conformities and validate in documentation. Steer/challenge all non-conformities, concessions, and OSW within assigned all Plant and Supplier responsibility. Organize/facilitate regular meetings with suppliers/partners (Folio reviews, drumbeat, multi-function team (MFT), etc.). Ensure non-compliance management according to Airbus and Authority rules.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate as an active team member learning and following dedicated training plans from current team members. including providing orientation support to new colleagues and trainees. Additional projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
Your boarding pass:
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Participation and/or the ability to successfully pass the following Airbus Courses:
Airbus Gen Fam (General Familiarization). Airbus SA Familiarization (EL01). Airbus Manufacturing Systems AMS. Airbus Production Rules 80T. Corporate Presentation Skills. Occupational Health and Safety.
Preferred: 0-3 years of relevant work experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably with an aviation company. Travel Required: 10% Domestic and International. Required: Possess the motivation to learn. Able to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and technical standards. Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in manufacturing engineering. Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing. Ability to work in a team environment, cross-functional team environment, as well as independently and with customers and channels. Critical thinking with the ability to problem solve. Recommended: Experience in a Manufacturing environment. Experience with 3D modeling software (Catia, SolidWorks, Etc.). Have the ability to establish and maintain a good relationship with all internal customers. Have the ability to work in an international team. Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to present clear and concise briefings and reports to customers and executives. Proficiency in other languages is recommended but not essential. Knowledge of Airbus processes and methods. Google Suite (Google Mail, Docs, and Sheets) Airbus IT-Tools (AIRINA, TAKSY, ECM, eQLB, ALB). Knowledge of common applications such as SAP. This role makes numerous independent decisions on behalf of the X-Plant Manufacturing Engineering team on how to solve various problems on the aircraft. This role does not have any direct reports but acts as a subject matter expert for the X-Plant production teams. Regular contact with X-Plant multifunction team made up of Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality and Logistics. Make operational decisions that drive the critical aircraft non-conformities forward to a timely solution. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external customers. Ability to work in an international team of people with different cultural backgrounds. High degree of work related flexibility and initiative. Strong leadership skills.
Physical Requirements: * Onsite or remote: Onsite 100% of the time. * Vision: Able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings on a daily basis * Hearing: Able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms on a daily basis. * Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications on a daily basis. * Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts on a daily basis. * Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs on a daily basis. * Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs irregularly. * Pushing / Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools irregularly. * Sitting: Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer on a daily basis. * Squatting / Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving irregularly. * Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor on a daily basis. * Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice 10% of the time. * Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces on a daily basis. * Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. * Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
