Job Description

The position consists of sustaining process activities, as well as supporting process engineering projects for the CMP and IMPLANT processing areas. This is a full-time position covering D1 shift, and the selected individual will report to the CMP/IMPLANT process engineering organization. A qualified individual should be highly motivated, capable of independent work and working knowledge of the fab. Working knowledge of the CMP and/or IMPLANT tools and the operational details of the areas are highly desirable characteristics. Although the target shift is D1, the selected individual may be asked to work overtime, or make modifications to his/her schedule to receive training and best accommodate the needs of the fab once released to the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish a mindset of continuous development to strengthen technical and leadership skills for constant improvement. A self-motivated attitude is essential to accomplish this. In some cases, it may be required to work overtime to train and learn the refined details of the position, or to provide additional coverage in the areas.
  • First line of defense for process problems in the CMP/IMPLANT areas. Disposition of qual failures, production hold material, tool issues, process excursions and any other issue that affects flow of quality wafers through the area.
  • Document and log daily activities.
  • Evaluate SPC and other process/equipment data to perform process adjustments.
  • Work closely with process engineering, equipment maintenance, equipment engineering, and production to sustain the fab, and ensure the continuous availability of process and equipment with minimum interruptions.
  • Analysis of process to be able to promptly disposition problem or interrupted lots.
  • Support projects, as well as be able to propose and execute projects to improve the area.
  • Execute experiments and other activities defined by process engineering.
  • Work with Equipment Engineering and Production personnel to effectively resolve specific issues to bring process equipment back on line in a timely manner.
  • Use SPC to troubleshoot issues or determine the health of the various processes in the areas.
  • Troubleshoot minor process issues to resolution.
  • Create/Modify procedures and specifications as needed to improve procedures or enhance training of technicians.
  • Assist and guide operators with all the activities in the areas.
  • Support other areas in cross-functional activities.
  • Expect to be cross-trained in other areas.

Working Environment:

The position requires a strong ability to multitask, to react fast to changing conditions, and the ability to recognize problems, limitations, or mistakes. The level of responsibility is high as the position requires the ability to make decisions often times with strong technical implications. Because of the existing collaboration between teams, good verbal and written communication skills are needed. It is desired to fill the position immediately, and for the selected individual to acquire the basic knowledge of the position fast.

  • Can be responsible for daily disposition of product, tool quals, and hold lots
  • Can monitor quality and other issues that affect the flow of WIP
  • Can work collaboratively with process engineering, equipment engineer, and production to sustain the fab
  • Are able to set up, monitor, and adjust process equipment; able to set up and perform diagnostic tests and evaluate results
  • Can perform technical equipment calibration and characterization
  • Are able to process test runs and conduct tests for engineering to identify continuous yield improvement projects (CIPs)
  • Are able to maintain and update area spec/OCAPs and conduct detailed record of procedures and results
  • Are able to conduct processing experiments on devices to prove/improve engineering design
  • Can conduct tests on devices/wafers by applying advanced techniques and criteria to obtain data required for process studies
  • Can execute experiments and non-routine process testing (VSTs) defined
Job Requirements

Experience/Proven Skills/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current Fab Tech in San Antonio.
  • Working knowledge of the CMP and/or IMPLANT tool sets is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of fab environment and clear understanding of the operational details.
  • Ability to work independently.
