Responsibilities

The Learning Lab Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting young adult clients in their academic and vocational pursuits. By working closely with the clinical team, the Coordinator helps clients achieve their educational goals, develop career skills, and enhance their independent living capabilities. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Learning Lab, providing personalized support, and fostering an inclusive and productive learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Support:

    • Provide individualized assistance to clients in high school and college, including guidance on the application and enrollment processes.
    • Offer content-specific support to enhance understanding and retention of academic material.
    • Assist clients in preparing for standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, and other certification/licensure exams.
  2. Vocational and Life Skills Development:

    • Deliver one-on-one support for vocational training and independent life skills, including aptitude testing, job searches, and resume writing.
    • Guide clients through financial aid processes, including FAFSA applications, scholarship/grant opportunities, and unemployment/disability applications as applicable.
  3. Support for Learning Differences:

    • Provide tailored support for clients with learning differences, such as dyslexia, ADHD, and processing disorders, ensuring they have access to appropriate resources and strategies.
  4. Learning Lab Management:

    • Oversee and manage Learning Lab hours, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for all clients.
    • Collaborate with other Learning Lab Coordinators and the clinical team to manage the Learning Lab schedule, facilitate curriculum delivery, and plan engaging activities.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Maintain clear and effective communication with the clinical team regarding client attendance, behaviors, progress towards goals, and areas needing additional support.
    • In certain cases, communicate and collaborate with clients' families to ensure a holistic approach to client development.
  6. Data Collection and Reporting:

    • Collect and analyze data from assessments and client progress to inform individualized support plans and interventions.
    • Document client progress and provide regular updates to the treatment team.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with high school and/or college students as tutor or mentor preferred.
  • Knowledge to support students in high school and basic college level reading and writing skills.
