This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which servesthe telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Job Purpose

The function of the water spider is to replenish the material used at each station so that the production personnel can focus on the process of adding value. Their activities are to create and maintain single-piece continuous flow.

This position is currently for B-shift, however it is subject to change based on a posted shift change. This is at the MDC and group VI-P pay.This is a Skill & Qualification position, so to be considered you must have the minimum qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but other duties can be assigned. Persons in this position will perform all other tasks as assigned and work overtime as required.

  • Works within the process- dives into the process, gets close to the operation, even goes into the operation to help operators with questions.
  • Facilitates flow- keeps the flow on the assembly line clean and smooth by taking on the occasional tasks (tasks that do not happen every cycle, such as material and tool replenishment or making shipping containers.)
  • This position is always moving. The water spider ensures that JIT is happening, just the right amount of material and supplies, at the right time, in the right place. The water spider fills in where needed to keep the flow going. The water spider communicates, facilitates, and helps. The water spider has the overview of flow. Continuous flow is the water spider's focus-and removal of obstacles is their mission.
  • This job is systematic - they should have a route, a time-line, and a system to do everything. They are a generalist who have good relationships with everyone.
  • Is responsible for the hour by hour- as they obtain the materials and supplies needed for the line they are the most knowledgeable about the efficiency of the line. On the hour by hour they will list the production obtain and account for any misses.
  • Ensures L6 metrics are meet - can utilize 5 why process if metrics are not meet.
  • Will utilize CCF1 - will become the guru on line balancing and SMED
  • Optimize CCF2 - set up and maintain KanBan and Heijunka
  • Create CCF3 - introduce production wheel and changeover matrix for maximum success
  • Will obtain EOS certifications - white/yellow belt certification
  • Will be involved in RIE's - both as a participant and a leader.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience at EnerSys.
  • Preferred distribution or parts center experience for 2 year
  • Certified to operate a forklift or the ability to be certified.
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and Excel).
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English language.
  • Ability and willingness to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of areas within the production floor.
  • Excellent time management skills to fulfill tasks and rounds of the production stations.
  • Excellent Communication skills with management and line workers to act as the liaison and provide feedback in both directions.

  • Capability to actively work on multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Strong verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
General Job Requirements
  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
  • This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company's driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.
