Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.

In this role, the successful candidate The Section on Health Choice, Policy, and Evaluation at NYU School of Medicine Department of Population Health is looking to hire a part-time Student Intern research assistant for the 2025-2026 school year. The Intern will work with the study team on an NIH-funded study evaluating the effectiveness of added sugar warnings in restaurants in New York City. This position primarily involves assisting with data management, extraction, and entry, as well as collaborating with the research teams at NYU and Stanford University.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project knowledge Demonstrate thorough knowledge of our research study, study rationale, and processes of the study.
  • Data management reviewing online survey responses/receipts for validity.
  • Data extraction extracting receipt data from online survey responses and converting it for analysis.
  • Data entry entering nutrition data that corresponds with the receipt data
  • Collaboration Engage in weekly team meetings and supervision.
  • Other research-related activities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a The student intern must be a full-time student, or if working in the summer months (Mid-May through Mid-Sept), must be planning to return to full-time status in the fall.

Preferred Qualifications:
Background and/or coursework in public health or related research.
Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Effective oral, written, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Experience in data management.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.50 - $19.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
