The Role:

We're hiring a Lead Pilot to provide medical air transport services in La Junta, CO. The ideal candidate is AS350/H125 qualified and demonstrates exceptional leadership, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and company policies while mentoring fellow pilots.

As a key liaison between flight crews, base leadership, and flight operations, this role fosters a culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork.

Flight Operations Responsibilities:
  • Maintain assigned flight schedule; remain flexible for coverage needs

  • Ensure aircraft is mission-ready, including:

    • FAR and company procedure compliance

    • Aircraft cleanliness and presentation

    • Preflight preparation and documentation

  • Complete all required paperwork (e.g., duty logs, manifests, time sheets)

  • Participate in training, check flights, ground school, and eLearning

  • Communicate operational info clearly during shift hand-offs

  • Represent the company professionally during public interactions

  • Attend meetings and trainings as required

Leadership Responsibilities:

In addition to standard flight duties, the Lead Pilot is responsible for:

  • Ensuring FAR, SOP, and operational compliance across base pilots

  • Coordinating with airport/FBO contacts

  • Managing pilot schedules, timecards, and coverage

  • Conducting performance reviews and coaching sessions

  • Supporting pilot hiring and training

  • Promoting pilot wellness and morale

  • Collaborating with base leadership and medical crews

  • Attending quarterly leadership and safety meetings

Required Qualifications:

Certifications & Education:

  • FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate

  • FAA Helicopter Instrument Rating

  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate

  • High School Diploma or GED

Flight Experience:

  • 2,000 total helicopter flight hours

  • 1,000 hours PIC (helicopter)

  • 1,000 turbine hours

  • 200 night flight hours (aided and/or unaided)

Pilot Incentives Recap:
  • Hourly pay with 20% geographical modifier

  • $5,000 Lead Pilot stipend

  • $15,000 sign-on bonus (1-year commitment)

  • $40,000 retention bonus after 36 months

  • 24-hour off-duty housing

  • 7-on / 7-off schedule

Physical Requirements:
  • Max duty weight: 230 lbs (incl. flight suit/boots)

  • Must lift/move up to 70 lbs

  • Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth, adjustable focus

  • Work near mechanical parts and in varying weather conditions

  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, vibrations, and noise requiring a headset

Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to make time-sensitive decisions under pressure

  • Follow oral and written instructions precisely

  • Adapt to changing schedules and operational needs
