North Carolina State University (NC State) was founded in 1887 with the purpose of creating economic, societal and intellectual prosperity for the people of North Carolina. Today NC State is the largest university in North Carolina, with more than 37,000 high-performing students, 9,000 preeminent faculty and staff and 300,000 alumni. NC State is a research-extensive university known for its leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We're also at the forefront of teaching and research in agriculture, business, design, education, humanities and social sciences, natural resources, textiles and veterinary medicine. NC State is consistently named as one of the best values in higher education, and many of our programs are ranked at the top of their respective disciplines. We take a great deal of pride in our collaborative, supportive and collegial team culture. All staff are provided opportunities for training and professional development, with an eye to personalized career growth.
University Communications and Marketing (UCOMM) plays a vital role in driving NC State forward. As NC State's central in-house agency, UCOMM provides the campus community with professional communications and marketing strategy and services to ensure successful, on-brand, targeted, collaborative communications and marketing that help NC State achieve its mission.
Working with colleges and units, UCOMM leads and supports NC State's focus across a variety of communications and marketing functions, including consulting, comprehensive planning, public and media relations, advertising and marketing, web communications, social media, internal and constituent communications, crisis communications, publications, brand management, trademark licensing and graphic design.
Specifically, the Office of Strategic Brand Management seeks to leverage and grow NC State's rising brand awareness and affinity to help the university accomplish its goals and achieve its potential. This includes the improvement of rankings, recruitment of the best and brightest students and faculty, creation of strong partnerships, generation of resources and fostering esprit de corps among all of our Wolfpack stakeholders.
NC State's Board of Trustees established the trademark licensing program in 1982 to protect the university's marks, control the quality of products with the marks, and to prohibit the unauthorized use of university marks on commercial and non-commercial products.
