Position Summary Performs basic accounting functions of the department through preparation of accounting entries, reconciliations and analysis. Specifically, performs department work activities of an administrative and accounting nature focused on cash and wire journal entries, deposits, bank reconciliations, and other basic accounting functions as required by the department. Duties include documenting and/or following standard operating procedures, preparing reports, compiling data, investigating and resolving problems, preparing journal entries and reconciliations. Essential Job Functions * Prepares daily cash and wires journal entries for company-wide cash transactions in the corporate accounting department * Prepares daily deposits of cash, rebates, and refunds and prepares the journal entries for company-wide transactions * Prepares monthly cash reconciliations (approximately 30 of them) and prepares adjustment journal entries for reconciling items * Prepares monthly journal entries as assigned, including allocation of costs to multiple departments or divisions, accruals, and other misc. entries. * Role may expand into other areas of the GL as the employee develops their knowledge base and on an as needed basis by the department * Manages documents, paperless filing organization, SOX files, and administers all clerical function of accounting offices * Review AP batches for approval, coding, and entry into the general ledger * Set up of communities in the E1 Oracle system * Assist with audits by pulling backup for audit requests and making copies * Processes bi-weekly T&E Expense Reports for the Company * Ensuring that internal controls are maintained according to SOX and company accounting standards and policies. * May assist with footing and checking 10Q/10K footnotes during quarterly filings * Communicates with business partners, other departments, and develops relationships across multiple accounting departments and functional areas Education Requirements: Associates degree in accounting minimum required; BA degree preferred Licenses or certifications: None Experience: Typically requires 1-2 years minimum experience with experience at a large public company preferred, however will consider college graduates with internship experience and/or a desire to enter corporate accounting at a publicly traded company. Experience with journal entries, data entry, audits, SOX and internal controls a plus. Experience with GL accounting software, specifically Oracle and TM1 a plus. Skilled in: Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently; Ability to learn accounting systems and the tasks of the role quickly and be comfortable with tight deadlines and quick training; Must be adequately skilled in Microsoft Excel applications; Willingness to go the extra mile for teammates, eager to learn, be a helping hand, have natural curiosity, skepticism and an analytical mindset; ability to work with team members with varying backgrounds.
