Lead large-scale, enterprise-wide projects aimed at improving warehouse and driver retention, including ownership of the Retention Working Group and the Frontline Leader Program. Manage all aspects of retention initiatives from program design, Implementation, and facilitation to tracking outcomes and continuous improvement. Serve as the primary point of contact for all retention-related projects within the McLane Teammate Retention Strategy.

  • Pay rate: $80,000 to $86,000 per year.
  • This role is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 12.5% of your base annual salary.

What you'll do as a Retention Program Manager:



  • Retention Working Group (RWG) Program Management


    • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Retention Working Group Program across Retail and Restaurant divisions.
    • Collaborate with corporate leadership, HR managers, and division leaders to build and evolve talent retention strategies that drive measurable results.
    • Effectively create project plans and executive-level PowerPoint presentations, regularly presenting data and updates on program status, outcomes, and impact to senior leadership.
    • Coordinate and facilitate all biweekly / monthly RWG meetings (virtual and in-person), manage communication with group members, and lead strategic planning sessions.
    • Monitor key retention metrics and dashboards (e.g., Turnover, Exit, Engagement, Immersion Surveys) to identify trends, outliers, and at-risk divisions.
    • Conduct site visits and roundtables at high-turnover divisions to gather feedback and identify actionable solutions.
    • Track division-level turnover performance against annual retention goals; document progress and insights.
    • Prepare and deliver Period-End Executive Summaries for supported divisions, highlighting progress, issues, and recommendations.
    • Partner with People Analytics and HRIS teams to collect, analyze, and visualize retention data; deliver executive-ready reports and dashboards that support strategic action.
    • Drive accountability among stakeholders by managing timelines, deliverables, and follow-ups for all RWG related initiatives.
    • Stay current on industry best practices, predictive analytics, and employee-centric strategies that support retention innovation and effectiveness.
    • Support system-wide initiatives that drive organizational effectiveness and champion process improvements that enhance teammate experience.


  • Frontline Leader Program (FLL) Management


    • Manage the enterprise-wide Frontline Leader Program, ensuring timely delivery, alignment with business needs, and continuous quality improvement.
    • Facilitate training sessions and schedule instructors to meet demand across all divisions.
    • Maintain and update program manuals, course content, and materials to align with the McLane Leadership Framework and evolving organizational needs.
    • Refresh course content annually and introduce new materials based on emerging needs assessments and feedback.
    • Oversee cross-charge processes between cost centers to ensure accurate allocation of program costs.
    • Manage the J Paul account for journal subscriptions and training materials.
    • Track course delivery feedback and take corrective actions as needed to maintain program effectiveness and participant satisfaction.
    • Maintain the master roster of course participants and completions; provide biweekly program updates to the Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) team.


  • General Program Leadership & Strategic Impact


    • Create plans, direct, and serve as the project lead for various enterprise retention initiatives for McLane including the Retention Working Group and Frontline Leader programs.
    • Hold stakeholders accountable to timelines and deliverables.
    • Leverage data and analytics to inform strategic decisions, develop insights, and recommend improvements.
    • Act as a central resource for corporate-wide retention initiatives, ensuring alignment with the broader People strategy.
    • Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the People Team's goals.




Qualifications you'll bring as a Retention Program Manager:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, organizational development, communications, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in recruiting, leadership/organizational development, or a related HR discipline.
  • Proven ability to analyze talent data to generate actionable insights and inform strategic decisions.
  • Experience with enterprise HRIS talent modules; familiarity with PeopleSoft or Workday preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex projects, including risk assessment, resource management, and ROI evaluation.
  • Extensive project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate cross functional teams, and hold stakeholders accountable to deadlines.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Strong change management capabilities with a track record of driving organizational change initiatives.
  • Ability to navigate and resolve challenges with sound judgment, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Expertise in developing and executing retention strategies and programs.
  • Excellent influencing and partnership skills across all organizational levels.
  • High attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Strong organizational and workflow management skills to support structured project execution.
  • Committed to enhancing the employee experience and maintaining confidentiality and discretion in all matters.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.


Working Conditions:



  • 25% - 50% travel is required. Must be able to travel with short notice and/or for extended periods of time.
