FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Freelance meteorologist Do you have a passion for finding weather patterns and disseminating that information to viewers? Fox 9 is looking for a dedicated and creative Certified Meteorologist to join our team in a freelance capacity. To be a member of our team you must have a firm and sophisticated grasp on Minnesota weather, from deep freezes to frenzied tornadoes, and a willingness to present that knowledge in a clear, effective manner. Responsibilities: Must have the ability not only to forecast local conditions, but live storm track, using your skills to communicate not just data, but a forecast and its impact, in a way viewers and listeners will understand. Prepare newscast graphics Qualified candidates will be proficient in creating digital videos, social media engagement, ad-libbing on live TV, live streams, and Facebook Live We are looking for a team player who can provide leadership while adhering to the highest standards of forecasting and alerting our viewers to severe weather Work with a team of meteorologists to deliver life-saving weather information to our audiences 24/7. Qualifications: Must be a certified meteorologist Minimum B.A. Degree in Meteorology, Science, or other related field Must be willing to work any shift as needed, any newscast, and work extended hours during impactful, severe weather events. High level of creativity and communication Background in meteorology with a passion for cutting-edge presentation Professional experience on-air as a meteorologist Ability to report and to forecast weather accurately and creatively under deadline pressure Severe Weather coverage experience is a plus along with knowledge of newscast production We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
