Position Summary
This role involves applying and managing patient immobilization treatments such as casts and traction equipment, while providing related education to patients and caregivers and collaborating with the care team. It also includes maintaining inventory, equipment, and daily operations of the work area, as well as staying current with best practices and assisting in staff training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply and manage immobilization treatments - Prepares, applies, adjusts, and removes casts and traction equipment according to medical orders to meet patient-specific needs.

  • Educate and support patients and families - Explains procedures and provides guidance on the care and use of immobilization devices, building supportive relationships.

  • Maintain equipment and inventory - Ensures availability and functionality of supplies and equipment, performs routine maintenance, and assists with budgeting.

  • Coordinate daily operations - Organizes workload, monitors patient flow, and communicates with the healthcare team to prioritize care and address issues.

  • Stay current and train staff - Maintains professional knowledge, participates in staff orientation, and promotes safe work practices.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required

Experience

  • 6 months experience in a medical field/environment or as a military medic.
  • Higher educational degree/training may substitute for experience.
