General Summary

Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experimental, specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research. Utilizes specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots procedures when experimental results are unexpected or specimen quality is poor; may suggest alternative routine methods to validate findings.
  • Performs laboratory techniques typical of the study and role; includes responsibilities of a Research Assistant I (RA I) plus additional duties.
  • Assists in planning specific research procedures and coordinating experiment schedules; contributes to overall study design.
  • Develops and troubleshoots new lab-specific techniques; includes advanced tasks beyond RA I scope.
  • Maintains detailed records of results and methodologies; compiles, analyzes, and presents data using charts, graphs, and study summaries.
  • Demonstrates basic lab techniques to assistants, technicians, fellows, residents, and students; fosters collaboration within and across departments.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM or Psychology preferred

Experience

  • One year of research experience required
  • Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
