Overview

Provides clinical leadership to a nurse navigation, social worker, health equity, and triage nurse team. Combined, these roles would make up the supportive care service team, report to the Clinical Director and a dotted line to the Sr. Director of Quality Programs and Palliative Care Physician for clinical support.


Responsibilities

Responsible for day-to-day operations/workflows for all roles on the team and the impact on clinic operation and quality/VBC program performance. The SCSM fulfills multiple roles such as daily oversight of all clinical activities/expertise, patient advocacy and experience, knowledge of workflows and quality programs (such as but not limited to CCM/PCM, EOM, VP, Anthem, ASCO/COA, QOPI), fill in for navigation and triage nurses as needed, support health equity and social work within the scope of a nursing manager. Therefore, experience working in the clinic as an infusion room nurse and/or navigator and working with triage nurses and social workers world strongly benefit the individual selected for this role.

  • Ensure clinical operations and practice consistent with organizational objectives

-Collaborates with practice management to provide support on operational projects such as site Quality Committees, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative site assessments, Advancing Care Information, the Oncology Care Model (OCM), and other special projects as assigned.

-Facilitates the implementation and/or utilization of outcomes data and evidence-based practices

  • Facilitates implementation of standardized best practices within the organization.

-Ensures practice standards of care are consistent with community standards of care.

-Ensures the incorporation of clinical evidence into existing and newly developed standards.

  • Staff Development

-Assess staffing levels and issues, patient flow, current practices in the clinical setting.

-Assists with the development of company-wide clinical competency testing and skills validation programs.

  • Ensure adequate staffing/FTEs for assigned clinics or region

-Maintains effective nursing staff coverage and operating costs for the practice and/or satellites within budgetary parameters.

-Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable labor laws and schedules and coordinates employee staffing including vacations, sick leave and overtime.

-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN or MSN preferred

RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.

Current CPR certification required.

Business Experience:

Minimum five years actively practicing as a registered nurse, including at least three years oncology experience.

Minimum three years of leadership experience

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

Oncology certification preferred
