Role Summary

The Lead Compensation Business Partner will be client-facing and bring a consultative mindset to enhance talent attraction and retention of top talent while maintaining our compensation philosophy. This role will partner and collaborate with HR Business Partners, business leaders, and various stakeholders to align compensation strategies with business objectives. This role will report to the Sr. Lead Compensation Business Partner - Commercial. The Commercial organization includes Sales, Delivery, Service and Marketing. We are rapidly expanding our physical footprint, so prior experience with hourly roles and high growth are valuable. This role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact on Rivian's mission by shaping equitable and innovative compensation strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide comprehensive support and counsel on all compensation related activities, such as strategic new hire offers, promotions, international mobility transfers, budget allocation, top talent, and retention.
  • Provide regular updates on market insights, industry trends, best practices, and proactively research and analyze data (market, turnover, offer acceptance rates, etc.) to determine the competitive position of roles within client groups. Present findings and thoughtful recommendations to ensure both internal equity and external competitiveness are maintained.
  • Drive consistency in compensation planning, program administration, program automation, and analytics/reporting for supported areas of the business.
  • Serve as a change champion and participate in the development and enhancement of communication and training materials.
  • Drive focal processes such as bi-annual promotions process and annual compensation planning, survey matching, and benchmarking for client group.
  • Enhance the compensation communication toolkit and train stakeholders on compensation philosophy and processes.
  • Create and implement compensation metrics dashboards to inform decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field with 6+ years of progressive compensation experience, preferably in a high-growth technology environment.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, allowing for effective communication of technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience in project management with the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proven independent decision-making to drive progress with little guidance.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to innovative solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Proven experience in creating and supporting global compensation programs within a fast-moving, high-growth organization.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for Irvine, CA based applicants: $137,000 - $172,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
