Job Description: The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in New York, NY will architect, design, and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance software solutions. Meet business requirements and align with best practices and industry standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical specifications, and provide solutions to system-wide architectural problems while ensuring successful delivery through continuous improvement. Utilize JavaScript and TypeScript to design and implement software solutions that meet business requirements and align with best practices and industry standards. Develop efficient and maintainable code by following coding standards and guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality in software development processes. Provide support for production applications, including monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting, to ensure smooth operation and optimal performance. Apply Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) practices and DevOps principles to streamline software development processes and enhance efficiency. Take ownership of backlog items, actively contribute to git repositories, and drive projects by delivering high-quality code. Demonstrate technical leadership by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior engineers, and providing guidance to support professional growth. Utilize AWS, Kubernetes, and monitoring tools including Dynatrace and New Relic. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week. Salary $179,982- $208,520 per year. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of experience as a software engineer or in a related occupation. Experience must include 3 years with each of the following: (1) Java; (2) JavaScript and TypeScript; (3) CICD and DevOps; (4) architectural patterns including microservices, serverless, and event-driven architecture; (5) supporting production applications including monitoring, logging, and tracing; and (6) AWS, Kubernetes, and monitoring tools including Dynatrace and New Relic.
